What happens at the first meeting?

The first meeting will be confidential and can be done in person, by phone, or via video conferencing. To prepare for the first meeting gather all relevant papers and any documents which may be evidence in your case. Bring or send any documents that you were issued by the police officer or any documents you received in the mail. If you know of witnesses, make a list of their names and contact information.

Typically on the first court appearance our law office appears for you in court so you do not need to attend if you have retained Vayeghan Litigation unless instructed by us otherwise.  Vayeghan Litigation informs the court that you have retained their Vancouver Law Office to represent you. They collect a copy of the case disclosure and apply to adjourn your case for several weeks so that they may study the police reports and determine your best defense.

Will You Defend Me?

YES. Mr. Vayeghan strongly believes in the constitutional principle that all individuals, regardless of the type of criminal allegations that they are facing, are entitled to have their rights protected by a criminal defence lawyer. Indeed, this is at the hallmark of a healthy and properly functioning democracy. This is what distinguishes Canada from many tyrannical nations around the world where a mere criminal allegation by state authorities, even in the face of weak police evidence, can lead to public shaming, conviction, imprisonment, and worse.

For these reasons, Mr. Vayeghan is prepared to defend you regardless of the type of criminal charge you are facing. Mr. Vayeghan has extensive experience handling a variety of criminal charges such as fraud offences, assault, uttering a threat, kidnapping, unlawful confinement, break and entering, gun charges, drug charges (possession or trafficking), sexual assault offences, theft, and obstruction of justice.

Why don’t I just plead guilty?

Criminal law defenses can be intricate. Even if you believe you’ve erred, there might be a technical defense. A robust defense can challenge the prosecution’s ability to prove allegations conclusively. Some contemplate pleading guilty without realizing potential defenses or the gravity of consequences. A conviction can significantly impact your finances, reputation, travel rights, and future prospects.

At Vayeghan Litigation, rated #1 out of 10 Top Vancouver Criminal Defence Law Firm’s on TrustAnalytica.ca,, our expertise lies in leveraging every possible legal defense to challenge criminal charges. Always consult a qualified criminal lawyer before making any plea to ensure you’re well-informed and protected.
